Well the first thing I have to say is that I should have did this post first. Why? Well I believe this series should have been released first. And I recommend to anyone that has not read the series to read this one first. Rift and Rise are the back story to how the characters of nightshade came to be. I think that if I had read this series first I would have enjoyed the Nightshade series even more.
I am addicted to this series and feel that it is better than the Nightshade series. I read the first book in a day (24hours) I did have to sleep. And the second in 2 days. I love the main characters. I was hooked on Barrow right away. This is a must read.
9 Stars
I would recommend this series to anyone. It is you chose if you read the nightshade series first. however, I do recommend this series be rad first.
I'm only giving this series 9 stars because I have completed it yet, of course. I assume I haven't because if there is not a third book then that is going to change my whole review of the series.

Nightshade Series
So I'm going to talk about the Nightshade series. This series consists of Nightshade, Wolfsbane, and Bloodrose. I really liked this series but, I was disappointed in the end. I have to give it to the author though this was a very different way of ending the series. I think this is the reason I was so disappointed in it. She took a risk and in my opinion failed. I guess I like everyone else in the fact that I like it when a book ends the way I want it to. I have read other reviews on this book and have noticed that a lot people complained about the way the character Shay was written saying that he came across as weak. I have to disagree here. I like the fact that she wrote him as the kind on man that is not afraid of his feelings and expressing them. Most male characters are written like Ren; Strong, a leader, protector, an Alpha. We need to see more characters like Shay. Someone not afraid to let a woman lead. In the end I noticed Ren's softer side coming out and I would have like to have seen that side of him come out a bit sooner. Also I found some parts dry.
Over all I would give this series an 8stars
The reasons?? First and foremost the ending. Two, because I would have like Ren's softer side out sooner. And lastly because I found it dry at times. especially in book 2.
I would recommend this series to a friend for more than one reason. I let you know what those reasons are when I do my review of the spin off series to the Nightshade series. It is with this series I have a lot more to say.

The Host
Now this was an interesting read. When I first started reading this book I got as far as chapter 6 before I put it down i was so bored with it. To be honest I didn't think that I was going to finish this book at all once I put it down. Six chapters in an no interest? This tells me that I'm never going to get into the book nor am I ever going to finish it.
But if there is one thing I know about myself, it is that I hate buying books that I never finish. So here I am with no interest in reading The Host, but not willing to let the money I spent on it go to waste. So I put it aside for a while and started the Need series instead. After reading the first two I realized that I have nothing to read till I can get the next to books. Re-Enter The Host.
I force myself to start reading this book again only to find that I still am bored and falling asleep reading it. Enter UNCLE JEB!
This is where I really started getting into the book. I'm not sure now how far into the book you have to read before you are introduced to Uncle Jeb, but he makes the book worth it, and he is not not even one of the main characters! If it wasn't for good ol' Jeb I don't think I would have made it through this book.
Now in saying all this the story does finally start picking up shortly after Jeb comes into the picture. And I found myself getting more and more into the main characters. Of course i can't say anymore than that or I will ruin the book.
Let's going to the end of the book. I was so disappointed. The ending was weak and unsatisfying. I read that Meyer's might write and second and third book to turn this story into a series. In this reader's opinion she is going to have to in or to justify this ending to its readers.
My offical rating for this book is:
6.8Stars
I would only recommend this book is Mrs. Meyer does write the second and third books.

Captivate (Book 2 of Need Series)
There is not much I can really say about this book. Zara does something I wasn't sure she would do. I can't say that it took me by surprise, but it was one of the those things the author could go either way with. What she did is going to leave you wondering what Jones is going to do next with the characters. I'm looking forward to reading the next two books.

9Stars
I would recommend this book and it will leaving you guessing

Need (Book 1)
I purchased Need and Captivate together in the hopes that by the time I was finished them I would already have Entice and Endure. This was not the case. But I don't mind taking a break from one series and reading another. Although I am currently reading "The Host" by Stephine Meryer, and as far as I know this is not a series. But I'm getting off topic.
Need. What can I say about this book? The main character,Zara White is not with the person I personally want her to be with. Maybe I will change my mind as I progress through the books. I will have to wait and see where that story line goes.
One cool thing I find myself liking and is very different from any other books I've read is her obsession with phobias. I learned of a lot of new phobias I have never heard of before. I also like that she uses these different phobias to mark her chapters instead of the usual chapter 1, chapter 2 most authors use.
The characters are well written. I LOVE her Grandmother! She is the kind of Grandmother I can see myself being one day. She is full of life, sassy, and doesn't mince words with her granddaughter. Jones gives Zara's grandmother so much life. (Some people think of the elderly as old, fragile or feeble, Zara's grandmother is none of these things. Well she is old and gray haired but that is it.)
Zara herself is also and good character. She does some surprising things and not so surprising things. I do find her to be a little annoyingly over dramatic about certain things and people (boyfriend). I doesn't bother me to the point that it would ruin the books/story for me. But then again I find I can't read through most books without finding some part that will annoy me.
So my official rating of this book is:
8.5Stars
I would recommend this book to people.

Darkness Becomes Her (Book#1)
This was a surprise read for me. I wasn't expecting anything big from this book when I picked it up. It was in the bargain bin at my local book store. I decided to read this book because I wanted to know what she is.
This book did not disappoint! Though I did feel that it was somewhat dragging at some points, they were few and far between. I will admit though that for me it was the last few chapters that made this book so good.
There are so many things that I did not see coming! By the time you finish this book you will be itching to get your hands on the next one. I know I am.
My Official rating for this book is:

Hallowed (Unearthly Book #2)
So I finished this book over the weekend and I have to say that this book really got to me (In a good way). I found myself really relating to the subject matter of this book. It was not at all what I was expecting to happen. Hand did great keeping the pace going, but there were some parts that I found to be repeating. Not as bad as that of Fifty Shades of Grey though. There is not much I can really say about this book with giving away the plot so I will just say this:
This book hit close to home for me. I found myself feeling real emotions while reading this book, and I can't wait to see where she is going to go from here in the next book.
My offical rating of this book is:
9.5Stars
I would recommend this book to anyone. This is a great series so far.
