I purchased Need and Captivate together in the hopes that by the time I was finished them I would already have Entice and Endure. This was not the case. But I don't mind taking a break from one series and reading another. Although I am currently reading "The Host" by Stephine Meryer, and as far as I know this is not a series. But I'm getting off topic.
Need. What can I say about this book? The main character,Zara White is not with the person I personally want her to be with. Maybe I will change my mind as I progress through the books. I will have to wait and see where that story line goes.
One cool thing I find myself liking and is very different from any other books I've read is her obsession with phobias. I learned of a lot of new phobias I have never heard of before. I also like that she uses these different phobias to mark her chapters instead of the usual chapter 1, chapter 2 most authors use.
The characters are well written. I LOVE her Grandmother! She is the kind of Grandmother I can see myself being one day. She is full of life, sassy, and doesn't mince words with her granddaughter. Jones gives Zara's grandmother so much life. (Some people think of the elderly as old, fragile or feeble, Zara's grandmother is none of these things. Well she is old and gray haired but that is it.)
Zara herself is also and good character. She does some surprising things and not so surprising things. I do find her to be a little annoyingly over dramatic about certain things and people (boyfriend). I doesn't bother me to the point that it would ruin the books/story for me. But then again I find I can't read through most books without finding some part that will annoy me.
So my official rating of this book is:
8.5Stars
I would recommend this book to people.
